This job description... oh, man. Rubs me the wrong way. I'm currently formulating my thoughts about how I'd like to respond to the organization posting this job description and will post it here when I've completed it. For now, I thought I'd put it out there for your comments. All view points welcome.

Essential Functions:
Resource Development and Marketing
•Gather market research and develop a marketing and recruitment plan to ensure an increase in the number of pregnant women,birth mother’s requesting services.
•Gather market research and develop a marketing and recruitment plan to ensure an adequate pool of highly qualified families to provide an adoptive home.
•Identify, cultivate, solicit, and maintain relationships with healthcare clinics, hospitals, community groups, churches, schools, colleges, associations and other community entities to ensure visibility for the Agencies adoption program.
•Identify healthcare professionals and community partners that would benefit from receiving ‘Adoption Basics’ seminar-format training. Work with the Adoption Clinical Team to set up trainings.
•Complete and ensure implementation of a detailed Quarterly Recruitment Activity Plan of specific tasks, roles and responsibilities, and a week-by-week timeline, incorporating other staff and volunteers to implement specific recruitment activities.
•Provide support for the Adoption marketing plan. Activities may include media outreach, visibility campaigns (direct mail, brochures, ads/classified), public presentations, networking and community meetings, presentations to healthcare professionals, adoptive parent presentations, and website development.
•Coordinate creation and production of high quality, compelling adoption marketing materials (compliant with the Agency standards and format) that inform and educate various audiences
such as pregnant women, healthcare professionals, prospective adoptive parents, and the community at large.
•Maintain a database and write solicitation and thank-you letters for all activities.
•May work night or weekend hours, and work schedule will vary according to program and community needs.
Collaboration
•Work with the Adoption Program Manager for the overall development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of a quality recruitment program.
•Receive incoming calls and emails regarding adoption recruitment as well as conduct systematic follow-up calls to any individual inquiring about adoption until the candidate is assigned to a clinician.
•Collaborate with the Adoption program in developing and implementing strategies for the recruitment of pregnant women,birth mothers and adoptive families.
•Partner with other Recruiter/Developer staff in the Agency to recruit across programs.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
•Job Knowledge: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university preferred; and 3-4 years related experience in marketing, public relations, or other relevant field. Experience working with non-profits and familiarity with adoption desirable. Level 5
•Supervising: No supervisory or lead responsibilities. Provides guidance and support to supervisors and managers across various programs. Level 4
•Decision-Making: General supervision and a set of broadly understood position expectations. The scope of decisions affects the programs, and can have major impact on program success. The risk and impact of decisions on the Agency must be considered. Level 3
•Interpersonal Skills: Regularly interacts and communicates with a broad range of people both in individual and group meetings. Formal presentations are a regular part of the position. Communication and interpersonal skills are very important to the success of the position. Collaboration and cooperation is necessary. Must have excellent communication and interpersonal
skills and be able to interact with people from diverse socio-economic, professional, ethnic, and ideological backgrounds in a responsive, sensitive manner on both a personal and professional level. Level 4
•Impact: This position influences Agency revenue through recruitment of birth mother’s and prospective adoptive families for the program. The degree to which the goals for the recruitment plan are accomplished determines the ability of the program to be successful in serving its clients. Develops recruitment strategies that address the needs of diverse socio-economic, racial, ethnic and other cultural groups served. Level 4
Additional Skills & Abilities:
•Must be conversant with Agency adoption programs and services.
•Must have excellent organizational skills; must be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
•Must have advanced word processing and publishing computer proficiency.
•Must have experience with direct mail campaigns, development of print ads, brochures, flyers, and demonstrated success in marketing and recruiting.
•Must be able to work evening and weekend hours.
•Must have a valid Oregon Driver’s license, personal vehicle, and personal automobile liability insurance and acceptable driving record.
•Must be able to provide Social Security Card and necessary documents for completed I-9.
•Must be able to provide official grade transcripts.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment: Level 1
•Standing, walking, and sitting at a computer, keyboarding, on a frequent basis.
•Drives frequently for the job. Must be able to drive in a safe manner, and at night.


Uh...make more women get pregnant and be in crisis? Hmm.

That's ahella long job description for $30K.
This agency has apparently failed to make the distinction between being a resource for birthmothers and birthmothers being a resource for the agency.

My social worker told me that Gladney actually gives the birth mother social workers a BONUS if they place. That's just too fucking disgusting.
